Utility
The fruit of the almond tree is mostly used by the confectionery industries. It is widely used in drinks for its particular flavour. The Seeds are consumed raw, cooked or dried. It is utilized in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and perfumery. The oil extracted from the seeds is an excellent lubricant in delicate mechanisms such as watches but is also useful for protecting the wood. Green, grey or yellow dyes can be obtained from leaves, fruits and roots. It is highly appreciated for its spectacular flowering as an ornament.
